July 2015 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly (clothed) dinner and discussion group at different public restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. This meeting is also a required pre-requisite before we can invite you to one of our clothing-optional parties. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday July 14, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday July 20, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Thursday July 23, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Ventura County: Friday, July 10, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Carpintera/Santa Barbara: Tuesday, July 21, 6:45PM – 8:30PM

Saturday, July 11, 11AM – 6PM
BATES BEACH PARTY AND NATIONAL SKINNY-DIP!
Location: Santa Barbara/Ventura County Line

This Saturday we’ll be back for a great beach party and demonstrate the need to re-open the clothing-optional section of this beach!

As part of Nude Recreation Week, there will be a simultaneous National Skinny-Dip coordinated by the Naturist Society and AANR in whatever body of water you’re near at Noon PDT/3PM EDT! Join us and show your support at this nationwide celebration of nude recreation with a dip in the Pacific at noon!

Even though the Santa Barbara nudity law remains in effect, persons removing their swimsuit do so at their own risk, although we had no problems or confrontations last year at our parties. Go as bare as you dare! Your decision, your choice!

Bring your own picnic supplies, chairs, bathing suits and sunscreen and make a day of it. If enough people show up, we may even break out a volleyball and net!

Afterwards we will all go into Carpinteria to have dinner and pay for our meals with $2 bills!

Call us at (818) 225-2273 or RSVP to scna@socalnaturist.org.

Saturday, July 18, Noon – 6PM
NORTHRIDGE POOL PARTY!
ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING AND ELECTIONS

Location: Northridge
MEMBERS: $10, NON-MEMBERS: $20
YOUNG ADULTS 18–25: $5, CHILDREN UNDER 18: NO CHARGE

Annual Members Meeting

We return to a familiar backyard pool and Jacuzzi location for our July party and annual Members Meeting and election of new officers! SCNA is a California non-profit corporation and as such is obligated by law to present reports to the membership about all the things your Board has done on your behalf during that past twelve months. This includes opening our Meeting Minutes and Financial reports for your inspection. The club members present will elect the members of the Board of Directors who will represent and serve you for the next 12 months. We encourage everyone to participate. The Meeting will run from approximately 2:30PM to 3:30PM so we won’t interrupt your pool and sun time too much.

Lost & Found Silent Auction

Also at this event each year we hold a silent auction featuring all the unclaimed Lost and Found items that people left at previous events. We will also try to throw in some other nice stuff to bid on. If you would care to donate something, please bring it to the party!.

50-50 Raffle!

For those feeling generous and lucky we will also hold a drawing where the winner will recieve half of the contributions. The other half will be used to support the naturist advocacy mission of the club.

Potluck lunch

A usual for these events, SCNA will provide soft drinks and water. When making your RSVP please let us know what potluck dish you are bringing to share. Please no pork or shellfish!

THE NATURIST SOCIETY’S
ANNUAL WESTERN GATHERING

Location: De Anza Springs Resort, Jacumba CA

The four days are full of fun, interesting workshops and events being sponsored by naturist leaders and clubs from all over the Western United States. Anyone who has gone to a Gathering before knows it is a great time to see old friends from other nudist groups (and to make new ones!). It’s a great way to connect with others, and share experiences and advice all can use to enjoy naturism even more.

SCNA is participating at this four-day annual meeting, hosting several “fun events” and several workshops. Even if you don’t want to participate in any of the events, De Anza is a great place to vacation for a few days and relax! We encourage those of you who will be attending to open your vehicles to carpooling. It’s also a great way to pass the time while traveling to De Anza Springs (a little more than an hour east of San Diego). Let us know if you’re planning on going and can offer a ride.
Contact us at scna@socalnaturist.org or (818) 225-2273.

Accommodations, RV sites, and camping are available. Contact De Anza Springs Resort at (619) 766-4301 for availability and prices. Discounted Grounds Fees are available for those who register for the Gathering with TNS.

AANR-WEST ANNUAL CONVENTION
Location: De Anza Springs Resort, Jacumba CA

Three days after the Naturist Gathering ends, De Anza Springs Resort will host the annual meeting of the Western Region of the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR-West.) Any AANR member is welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings. This convention is more business than the Naturist Gathering, but no less important to naturists in the region.

AANR-West delegates (mostly representing the parks and resorts) will conduct business and hold elections for executive and director positions. SCNA members have previously held board and executive positions with very positive results. If you’re an AANR member and want to have a direct influence on improving AANR-West and naturism in our region, consider running for a position in the AANR-West leadership. This year is a great opportunity for motivated individuals. Several current position are scheduled to become vacant due to term limits. If you want to be involved, we urge you to contact us and attend this meeting.

SCNA delegates will participate in several of the meetings (Marketing, Government Affairs, etc). While this is NOT an SCNA event, we would appreciate knowing who is going so we have a head count for our delegation.
Contact us at scna@socalnaturist.org or (818) 225-2273.

Accommodations, RV sites, and camping are available. Contact De Anza Springs Resort at (619) 766-4301 for availability and prices.
