September 2015 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly (clothed) dinner and discussion group at different public restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. This meeting is also a required pre-requisite before we can invite you to one of our clothing-optional parties. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday September 8, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday September 21, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Thursday September 24, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Ventura County: Friday, September 11, 6:45PM – 8:30PM
Carpintera/Santa Barbara: Tuesday, September 24, 6:45PM – 8:30PM

POLYNESIAN FESTIVAL AND LUAU
Location: Olive Dell, Colton
Gate fee per day, MEMBERS: $16, NON-MEMBERS: $22
Luau dinner: $30 per Single, $50 per Couple

Join us at Olive Dell Ranch in Colton for their traditional Labor Day Luau event. The gate fee is discounted for SCNA members to $16 per person per day for this weekend, but ONLY if you are on the list SCNA must submit to Olive Dell by Thursday, 9/3! Otherwise you will pay the regular $22 per person per day gate fee.

Saturday night will feature a Luau dance with a live band.
Sunday is the main event, the park’s annual Polynesian Dinner Buffet with all the trimmings and entertainment by a troupe of Tahitian dancers and fire-twirlers doing a new act, different from previous years.

The Luau dinner/show has a separate cost besides the gate fee:
$30 single or $50/couple. You do not pay SCNA for your gate fee, or the luau tickets! You pay directly to Olive Dell immediately upon arrival. Do not delay as they may sell out.

Directions to Deep Creek

Saturday, September 12 – Sunday September 13
Meet at 10:30 AM

Nude Hike/Camping Trip to Deep Creek
Location: Bowen Ranch, San Bernardino Mountains
Gate Fee: $5 Per Person Per Day, $10 Camping

You may go for the hike on Saturday or Sunday only, or stay overnight along with perhaps 20 other nudists (the number we usually average on these trips). We will hike in at around 10:30AM Saturday. After a great day at the springs we will hike out and set up tent camping next to our cars. There is no tenting allowed near the springs. After breaking camp on Sunday, those who wish will hike back down to the Springs again. You are responsible for your own camping equipment, food and drink to pack in (and to pack out any leftovers!).

Pay at the Bowen Ranch entrance, exact change in envelope with license number if no one is there to collect your fees.

Note: The dirt road from the gate to the parking lot is in poor condition. A truck, pickup or 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, but whatever you drive, be careful.

RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and arrange for car-pooling.

Wear your name medallion and blue beach hat!

Directions to Bates

Saturday, September 19, 9AM – NOON
CALIFORNIA BEACH CLEANUP DAY
Location: Bates Beach, Carpinteria

Every year on the third Saturday in September, people join together at sites all over California to take part in the State's largest volunteer event, California Coastal Cleanup Day. The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet! This year, SCNA and Friends of Bates Beach are in charge of this annual event at North Rincon (Bates) Beach.

Bring gloves to wear and maybe a long-handled picker tool if you have one. Otherwise bags and other material will be provided. The 9AM start time is assigned by the state Coastal Commission who is organizing the event statewide. If you can’t make the 9AM start time, you can still come as late at 11AM to help with the second half of the cleanup. If you come closer to noon, you can help the people returning from the beach to weigh and then take their bags to the beach trash bins.

Please call us at (818) 225-2273 if you can join us. A good showing at this event will impress the local County and Carpinteria City officials.

BATES BEACH PARTY, NOON – 6PM
After the Cleanup is completed, weather permitting we will celebrate the rest of the day with a picnic on the beach.

Location: Down the foot ramp toward the west about 1000 yards near the concrete barrier where the beach starts to curve to the left.

Bring your own lunch, towel, umbrella, sunscreen, and a chair.

Saturday September 26, NOON – 6PM
ICE CREAM SOCIAL & POOL PARTY
Location: Northridge
MEMBERS: $10, NON-MEMBERS: $20
YOUNG ADULTS 18–25: $5, CHILDREN UNDER 18: NO CHARGE

What better way to celebrate the end of summer than with an Ice Cream Social? The club will provide the basic flavors (including some sugar-free) and also a large variety of toppings - build your own sundae! SCNA will also provide soft drinks/water.

Please bring a pot luck dish to share. (Please no pork or shelfish!)

There will also be a 50-50 cash raffle.

RSVP to (818) 225-2273 or email us at scna@socalnaturist.org.
