July 2016 Events
Carpinteria Independence Day Parade
Saturday, July 2, Noon to 5:00 PM
Location:
Cost:
SCNA and Friends of Bates Beach have been invited to participate in the annual parade down Linden Avenue in the heart of Carpinteria. The parade itself begins at 3:00 pm. A few lucky members will ride our vehicle and wave to the crowd. We are welcomed into the parade thanks to our many years of service as members of the Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce. It is a rare privilege for a nude recreation activist group.
Come enjoy the carnival and events during the day, buy your food and souvenirs using $2 bills (the official nudist currency in town,) then cheer us on as you watch the parade from the sidewalk.
Contact SCNA to RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and arrange for car pooling.

Black's Beach Skinny-Dip Event
Saturday, July 9, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Location:
This is a certified attempt to break the record set last year at 786 in Australia. The goal is to get 800 or more in the Pacific.
If we don’t make it, we’ll get to spend a great day on the beach with hundreds of other nudists. If we break the record, we can say that California holds the World Record for Skinny Dipping on a State Beach where nudity is tolerated, but still does not have a legally designated clothing optional area.
Let us know if you’d like to carpool down for the day.
Call us at (818) 225-2273 or RSVP to scna@socalnaturist.org.

Annual Members Meeting
We return to a familiar lawn and Jacuzzi location for our July party and annual Members Meeting and election of new officers! SCNA is a California non-profit corporation and as such is obligated by law to present reports to the membership about all the things your Board has done on your behalf during that past twelve months. This includes opening our Meeting Minutes and Financial reports for your inspection. The club members present will elect the members of the Board of Directors who will represent and serve you for the next 12 months. We encourage everyone to participate. The Meeting will run from approximately 2:30PM to 3:30PM so we won’t interrupt your spa and sun time too much.
Lost & Found Silent Auction
Also at this event each year we hold a silent auction featuring all the unclaimed Lost and Found items that people left at previous events. We will also try to throw in some other nice stuff to bid on. If you would care to donate something, please bring it to the party!.
50-50 Raffle!
For those feeling generous and lucky we will also hold a drawing where the winner will recieve half of the contributions. The other half will be used to support the naturist advocacy mission of the club.
Potluck lunch
A usual for these events, SCNA will provide soft drinks and water. When making your RSVP please let us know what potluck dish you are bringing to share.

Bates Beach Party
Saturday, July 23, Noon to 5:00 PM
Location:
Another sunny beach event! To get our beach back it is important that we keep showing up to get the non-nudists who come to the beach to see they have nothing to fear from us, and that it is okay for us to claim the unused western end of the beach.
The Santa Barbara nudity law remains in effect. Persons removing their swimsuit do so at their own risk, although we have had no problems at our events this year so far. Go as bare as you dare! Your decision, your choice!
Bring your own picnic supplies, chairs, bathing suits and sunscreen and make a day of it. Afterwards we will all go into Carpinteria to eat and pay for our meals with $2 bills!
Call us at (818) 225-2273 or RSVP to scna@socalnaturist.org.
The Naturist Society Western Gathering
Thursday, July 28, 9:00 AM to Sunday, July 31, 4:00 PM
Location:
The four days are full of fun, interesting workshops and events being sponsored by naturist leaders and clubs from all over the Western United States. Anyone who has gone to a Gathering before knows it is a great time to see old friends from other nudist groups (and to make new ones!). It’s a great way to connect with others, and share experiences and advice all can use to enjoy naturism even more.
SCNA usually participates at this four-day annual meeting, hosting several “fun events†and several workshops, although a conflict witht eh AANR-West Convention may cause a change of plans. Even if you don’t want to participate in any of the events, Lupin Lodge is a beautiful place to vacation for a few days and relax!
We encourage those of you who will be attending to open your vehicles to carpooling. It’s also a great way to pass the time while traveling to the San Jose area. Let us know if you’re planning on going and can offer a ride.
Contact us at scna@socalnaturist.org or (818) 225-2273.
Rustic accommodations include yurts, some cabins and tenting options, along with some RV parking. Contact Lupin Lodge at (408) 353-9200 for availability and prices. Discounted Grounds Fees are available for those who register for the Gathering with TNS.
AANR-West Convention
Thursday, July 28, 12:01 PM to Sunday, July 31, 6:00 PM
Location:
De Anza Springs Resort will host the annual meeting of the Western Region of the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR-West.) Any AANR member is welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings. This convention is very important to naturists in our region.
AANR-West delegates, representing the members of each club or resort, will conduct business and hold elections for executive and director positions. SCNA members currently hold two director positions and the vice-presidency. If you are an AANR member and want to have a direct influence on improving AANR-West and naturism in our region, consider running for a position in the AANR-West leadership. If you want to be involved, we urge you to contact us and attend this meeting.
SCNA delegates will participate in several of the meetings (Marketing, Government Affairs, etc). While this is NOT an SCNA event, we would appreciate knowing who is going so we have a head count for our delegation.
Contact us at scna@socalnaturist.org or (818) 225-2273.
Accommodations, RV sites, and camping are available. Contact De Anza Springs Resort at (619) 766-4301 for availability and prices.
