SCNA Monthly Van Nuys Meet-up

This scheduled event is in the past.

Tuesday, September 8, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Second Tuesday of Every Month

Location:

Online

Although the restaurant that we normally hold this Introductory Meetup is now open, due to social distancing rules we still can't hold an effective meeting in person, so we've decided to hold this Meetup online using the Go-To-Meeting app. This app works like Zoom, but has more control and longer meeting time allowances.

Please join our meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/274998037

You can also dial in using your phone.
United States: +1 (646) 749-3122
Access Code: 274-998-037

This Meetup is a great initial step for those who are curious about social nudism and the SCNA. Meet other like-minded people, and some of our current members, and get answers to your questions before deciding to go to the next step.

This Meetup is also a required orientation before prospective members are invited to one of our house parties or events. The SCNA is a family-friendly organization with over 140 members locally. Join us to learn more about the liberating benefits of naturism, and maybe even make some new friends.

We hope to meet you online!

Deep Creek — Fall Hike

This scheduled event is in the past.

Sunday, September 13, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

SCNA is joining NitOC, Camping Bares, and others for a day hike to Deep Creek Hot Springs

Location:

Deep Creek Hot Springs, San Bernardino Mountains

Cost:

$10 per person for daytime parking. Pay at the Bowen Ranch entrance. If no one there to collect, place the exact fee in envelope with your vehicle license number.

Meet at the Bowen Ranch parking area between 10 and 10:30 a.m. If you miss us, hike down yourself and we will meet you at the hot springs.

The hike down to the trail is moderate if you are in fair shape. It is two miles long with a 970 foot drop in elevation. That means the slope is very uphill on the way back! It is not handicapped accessible.

Remember, there are no toilets, no water and no supplies available so be sure to bring everything you need. Don't forget your water, sunscreen lotion, hat, food, and comfortable hiking attire although you may hike nude both ways if you wish.

RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and arrange for car-pooling.

SCNA / Friends of Bates Beach Monthly Meet-up

This scheduled event is in the past.

Tuesday, September 15, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Third Tuesday of Warmer Months

Location:

Online

Friends of Bates Beach and SCNA hold a meeting each month (March through October) to plan our activities for North Rincon Beach. It is the primary coordination time for the Beach Ambassador program, community relations, and beach events.

This is also a way to introduce new people to naturism and the nude beach culture, to dispel mistaken impressions that people may have about us. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome.

Reservations are not required but a call to (818) 225-2273 or (805) 910-6210 is appreciated so we can anticipate the head count.

To help protect everyone's health during the current emergency, this event is held in an online format.

Bare to Breakers

This scheduled event is in the past. This event was canceled.

Sunday, September 20, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Location:

San Francisco

There are restrictions on public nudity in San Francisco, but it is legal to run nude in the annual Bay-to-Breakers race as long and you are not exhibiting any lewd behavior. Many nudists co-mingle each year with the thousands of other runners and crazies costumed (or body painted) in everything imaginable.

This is not an SCNA event. We post this notice as a courtesy to our members and other web site visitors who might like to attend (and run naked through a city!)

Nudists should visit the Bare to Breakers website www.baretobreakers.com for detailed advice for participating.

In previous years Lupin Lodge in Los Gatos has provided a shuttle to take nudists to the race and back again, since driving in SF is so insane. The 90-min bus ride from Lupin cost $40 round trip.

Contact Lupin Lodge at 1-408-353-9200 for details.

Zorthian Ranch Pool Party and Talent Show

This scheduled event is in the past. This event was canceled.

Tuesday, September 22, Noon to 7:00 PM

Alas, health restrictions have caused this event to be cancelled this year. We will see you in the future.

Location:

Altadena

Cost:

Members and Non-Members: $30/person, Children under 18: No Charge
Overnight fee: $5/person

The famous Zorthian Ranch is a 48-acre mountainside artists' enclave in the hills above Altadena and Pasadena, which has been used for fashion shoots, movie locations, and has been the site of the annual LA Folk Festival in years past. The Ranch was the life work of the late Jirayr Zorthian (1911-2004), who was considered a significant artist of the 20th century and whose paintings and sculptures adorn federal buildings, from the Pentagon to Post Offices around the country. The ranch displays many of his works, and it has a conference center, an outdoor stage, and a large swimming pool that overlooks the city.

With faith that the bridge and road will be passable, we have again rented the property for the afternoon. We welcome all of our great friends from the other naturist clubs in the region to enjoy the day with us.

This is always a great experience for SCNA members and guests to enjoy! For more information about the Ranch, see their web site at: www.zorthianranch.com

GOT TALENT?

The Zorthian Bacchus Stage is the scene for our fun SCNA talent shows! Bring your instruments and serenade us, tell a joke or two, read a story or poem, juggle, dance, whatever your talent is that you’d like to show off, start practicing now! Please let us know if you would like to perform as soon as possible so we can work you into the show!

SCNA will provide soda and water. Please bring a pot luck dish to share.

ZORTHIAN AFTER DARK

Saturday 7 PM – Sunday 10 AM

When you RSVP and pay for the Talent Show and Pool Party let us know if you are spending the night, whether it’s in one of Zorthian's rentals, sharing floor space or beds in one of the rentals, or camping sites. There will be parking up top only for those staying overnight. Dinner will be a communal meal (pizza or?) Breakfast on Sunday will be coffee and breakfast sandwiches. $5 per person

Important! We need the full name of any NON-SCNA member at least 48 hours in advance in order to verify membership with the other clubs and/or to perform our usual background checks. NON-SCNA members will also be required to secure their RSVP’s with payment via PayPal, check, or Money Order, 48 hours prior to the event.

PLEASE RSVP to SCNA at (818) 225-2273 or via email to scna@socalnaturist.org. About five days before the event specific directions will be sent to those who RSVP.

California Beach Cleanup / Bates Beach Party

This scheduled event is in the past. This event was canceled. I [heart] Bates Beach, Carpinteria, CA

Saturday, September 26, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Location:

Bates Beach, Carpinteria, CA

SCNA and Friends of Bates Beach are the cleanup captains for North Rincon Beach. Participating in this annual event helps demonstrate our commitment to the beach.

9 AM - Bring gloves to wear and maybe a long-handled picker tool if you have one. Otherwise bags and other material will be provided. The 9am start time is assigned by the state Coastal Commission who is organizing the event statewide. If you can’t make the 9AM start time, you can still come as late at 11am to help with the second half of the cleanup.

Noon - Bring your own lunch and towel and chair and we can go as a group down to the beach to enjoy it as nature intended!

6 PM - Bring a few extra bucks and come into Carpinteria with the group for dinner afterwards. A great way to spread the word to the business community that naturists are consumers!
