DUTCH APPLE FRITTERS

CHEF'S NOTES AND COMMENTS:

Thise recipe comes from my great-grandmother, who was born in Rotterdam, Holland, in 1882.

INGREDIENTS:

6 large red apples
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbl sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
oil for deep frying
powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prep Time: approximately 30 minutes.

1. Peel and core apples and slices into 1/3-inch thick slices.

2. Combine dry ingredients, add egg and milk, and mix well for 3 minutes.

3. Dip apple slices into batter and deep fry in hot oil until golden.

4. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar.
