Karaoke and Wii Tournament
April, 2009 - It was a beautiful sunny day to visit our friends at Deer Park on April 18. This club always makes us feel welcome, and 19 of us made the 90 minute trek to Devore to enjoy their warm company.
After checking in we met at the “lower” pool behind the clubhouse and enjoyed several hours of soaking and sunning. Many of the residents (and a gaggle of kids) were also there, and we shared some pleasant conversations.
Later in the afternoon, we moved out of the sun to the clubhouse where the park set up their new “Wii” game console. Many of us joined in to play several rounds of “virtual bowling.” The billiard table and indoor Jacuzzi also got a lot of use (so did the bar).
About 5pm the restaurant opened and we were served an excellent pork roast meal with all the trimmings.
For many SCNA members this was their first trip to Deer Park, and they enthusiastically requested we make a return visit later in the year. One even remarked, “I’d like to live here.”
April 2010 Karaoke Party
Saturday, April 17, 2010 – SCNA members traveled to Deer Park near San Bernardino and enjoyed a sunny and warm afternoon by the pool and clubhouse. This was the largest group of SCNA members and guests to travel to an outside club – over 30 of us attended.
The Trail’s End restaurant was open for lunch and for dinner, with a wide variety of a la carte items such as turkey and ham sandwiches, cheeseburgers, burritos, chicken strips, fries, chips, and drinks.
After dinner, Deer Park cranked up its karaoke machine and perhaps 40 Deer Park residents came down to join in the fun. Several of our members participated also; in particular good voice were Rolf, Kevin, and Jim. The surprise was Gus who belted out a terrific La Bamba in Spanish.
Later, several members stayed overnight in the park’s new cabins.
Thanks, Deer Park for your kind hospitality!
Halloween, 2010
October 30, 2010 - A large group of SCNA members celebrated Halloween this year at Deer Park, where an estimated 100 people joined in a karaoke dance party that lasted until past 3AM.
At least that is what we heard from those who lasted that long. It was quite a party!
It had rained for a few hours before sunrise Saturday so the streets were still wet and the sky cloudy on the way there. But the sun did peek out during mid-afternoon as we sat around the heated pool. Many members decided to spend their time at the indoor Jacuzzi in the clubhouse, where we met several of the park residents and had some interesting conversations.
Deer Park had graciously provided a lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, or patty melts for those of us who arrived before 1PM. The homemade spaghetti dinner was served starting about 5:30 and it was delicious! As at many other nudist parks, Deer Park relies on a team of residents and volunteers to organize the meals and parties, and those people really knocked themselves out making us feel right at home.
Several SCNA displayed their singing skills during the karaoke including Jonathan, Heidi (who does a nice Sarah McLaughlin) and Brian (whose “Piano Man” brought a loud ovation.) Heidi also won “Sexiest Costume” for her amazing angel wings. Well done, all!
And thank you, Deer Park, for allowing us to share a great holiday party with your members!
