DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE BONNY DOON BEACH, SANTA CRUZ

FROM THE NORTH (SAN FRANCISCO, HALF MOON BAY):

Driving south, it is just past the town of Davenport

Driving CA 1 south of Davenport at milepost 27.6

FROM THE SOUTH (MONTERY, SANTA CRUZ):

If you are driving north, Bonny Doon Beach is past Fambrini Produce.

Look for the Bonny Doon Road sign on the east side of the highway and a large paved parking area on the right.

Parking Paved parking area on the west side of highway is free, but can fill up early (it is closed from 10 PM to 6 AM)

Parking is illegal on CA 1 or Bonny Doon Road

Walking Follow the path next to the bench and walk over the railroad tracks

There are several paths to the sand, but most are steep and slippery.

Walk about 50 paces to the right after crossing the railroad track to a path that goes up the hill.

This path also forks to the left to a set of steps that are also steep but at least they're made of rocks.

    Walk north to the cove

    Comments:

    • Bonny Doon Beach is a peaceful beach, but after-hours assaults have become too common here. Get out before dark.

    • This part of the coast is often foggy (and cold) all day. The best time of year there is often the first week or two in October. Usually a hot spell hits with an off shore breeze.

    • Mike says "One problem is the gawkers on the cliff, carrying binoculars and just sitting and standing there for hours, no shame at all!"

    • Bonny Doon Beach Facilities: None

    • Bonny Doon Beach Activities: Swimming is not advised (very cold and heavy rip tides).
